Thanks for the great recipe Giada. I cooked the salmon in lemon brodetto with pea puree tonight and it was delicious. The 2008 Owen Roe Abbot’s Table paired nicely too.

There’s a nice roundup of five hearty breakfast meals over at The Art of Manliness that’ll keep you powered up through the winter.

“He don’t win sh&@. He’s a good guy though…a good guy to beat up on. He ain’t no rival, $%#!%^#&@ can’t even shine my shoes.” - Myron “The King” Mixon on Paul Petersen, BBQ rival
If you don’t recognize this character, you’re obviously not watching enough television. Whatever your excuse is, his name is Myron “The King” Mixon and he’s a regular on the show BBQ Pit Masters. I’m a vegetarian and I still enjoy watching this show whenever K puts it on (K controls the TV, btw.). And I think I stay tuned to the show because of Myron’s drawl. His voice and comments will turn your head. Even if you are in a heap of code or whatever it is that occupies your time when your attention is not completely focused on the TV. The man has an attitude and is hilarious to watch. Besides traveling across the country to attend BBQ contests, he attends Kenny Rogers look-alike contest (just kidding) and he has a school in his hometown in Georgia where he teaches others to become BBQ masters.

Kate and I made a winter squash concoction last night and it was really delicious. It was easy to make, too. We cubed a couple of winter squash, keeping the skin on. We then sautéed the cubes with a bit of rosemary and added them to a pot that contained a can of roasted tomatoes and cannellini beans. I recommend it.

Last night we had a couple of friends over for a Mac & Cheese dinner. And to make sure to cater to what were hopefully cheese-happy taste buds, Kate laid out the cheese in piles and labeled them accordingly. There were also containers that held spinach and artichoke hearts. Have you ever had spinach in your mac & cheese? If not, try it. It’s pretty damn good. Overall the dinner was a success and the mac & cheese was delicious.
