Black on Black Oversized Timex Easy Reader

I ran across another blacked out Easy Reader today and I snatched it up for you. I’ve talked about this watch before on the blog, and I’m talking about it again because it’s one of my favorites from Timex. It’s no wonder GQ added it to the August 2010 issue along side of the Panerai. This watch has a 42mm face and can make a statement. Lug to lug it holds a 20mm band and the Timex team did you a solid by fixing it up with genuine black leather one. Happy bidding.

GQ 1968 - Three Brides for Kasos

For your viewing pleasure, I bring you some images from an old GQ

From top to bottom: eh, totally rockable, rockable.

I’m loving those polka dot shorts.

This guy must be a mathematician.

MacGruber! Oh… it says Grubb, wuh?

Stripes.

And more stripes.

The new GQ just landed on my doorstep and so I thought I’d list my favorites from the article 25 Most Stylish Men in the World.
 Russell Brand
His style is relaxed and sometimes so relaxed he wears women’s clothing. Follow him on Twitter to hear about the latest developments in cat rapage.

 Spike Jonze
W has a good interview with him that goes into talking about his collaboration with Opening Ceremony.

 Lapo Elkann
He holds the nickname “Lapo of Luxury” and has made it into Vanity Fair’s Best Dressed Hall of Fame of 2009. via Wikipedia I like his style. He’s not afraid to use color and he likes to accent his outfits with interesting spectacles.

 Ed Westwick
I’m not a fan of the wide ties. They mostly consist of an assortment bright colors with paisley patterns; for the most part I dig his steeze.

 Brad Pitt
You should check out his black tie ensemble in the latest GQ, it’s nice.

 Jude Law
I like his laid back style.

 André Benjamin
I don’t subscribe to the pants tucked in to the boots, but I’m curious to see more from him.

If you’re wondering, I voted for Lapo Elkann but Robert Pattinson is currently in the lead.

Take my word… it was good. Tonight, K, I and a couple of friends decided (I persuaded them) to visit Bamboo Sushi. It was written up in GQ as Alan Richman’s Five Best Dishes of the Year and the Alaskan black cod with smoked soy and roasted garlic that was on Alan’s list was a treat. As a backup, I ordered it with a side of truffle potatoes. This ended up being an excellent compliment. The cod was covered in a fatty crisp shell that was submerged in a syrup of soy. It had an excellent balance of saltiness, sweetness and a thickness that usually butter (which isn’t in the dish) can only provide. It was that AMAZING. We also enjoyed the daily selection of oysters, agedashi tofu, their sushi rolls—especially the 310—and for dessert the kasutera and the chocolate egg rolls.
Bamboo also has a prime selection of polished sakes. Their reserve contains a selection of sakes that range from seventy to thirty-five percent polish. They also serve their sake using a waterfall technique. If you’re not familiar, this is a technique that involves a masu box and an over pour of sake. You basically, in the case of Bamboo, set a shot glass into the masu box and continue a pour until the sake falls over the glass’s edge. It’s neat. And its “cool factor” most likely caused us to order a shit load of it. I can’t remember all of the types we had, but I remember at least ordering kurosawa, well of wisdom,  and cabin in the snow and enjoying them all. We had a great time and I recommend you try everything on the menu.

Bryan Ferry is a British singer, musician, and songwriter and has placed ten singles on the top ten charts in the UK (via Wiki). And his rakish style has hoisted him into a spot on GQ’s The 50 Most Stylish Men of the Past 50 Years. He represents his position with a wardrobe that blossoms with bespoke Richard Anderson suits, Dunhill shirts, Berluti shoes, and pindot ties. And if you’re not already jealous enough, GQ has rounded up the complete list of Mr. Ferry’s essentials.

My friend M has been looking for a good winter coat and I figured I’d help out. He’s had his eye on a couple of peacoats so the coats in this roundup will be similar in style.
The duffle coat pictured above is from Uniqlo and I found it the other day while reading The GQ Eye. And I agree with Mr. Moore that it’s a cool alternative to the peacoat.
Another good option is to go the vintage route. Here’s a peacoat that I found on eBay. It went for a whole twenty six bones - not bad.

And below are a few other nice coats that I rounded up. Click on the image below to see more details.
