Have you ever been to a rummage sale? I went to one that American Apparel was hosting today and it wasn’t that great. By the time I got there, most of the sizes left dangling on racks were XS and XXL.
I didn’t drop any dough on apparel at the sale, but I did pick up an issue of Fantastic Man (seen above). I used some of my wheelin’ and dealin’ skills and walked away with it for the low low price of $1.50. The issue dates back to 2008 and it contains interviews with Gus Van Sant (who lives in Portland) and Will Oldham, a gnarly Tom Ford gingham check suit (in ivory and black), and at the very back of the issue, a three page American Apparel ad.

This weekend was really messy. It rained almost everyday and made me lazy for the most part. But at one point I got a case of cabin fever and decided to make my way down to look at the array of great art and fashion magazines at Rich’s Cigar Shop. While flipping through the latest European GQ, I ran across a pair of really awesome blue desert boots from Russell & Bromley. After I got home, I searched for more pics of them but I had no luck. If you know where I can find more pictures, I’d love to know.
Before they locked the doors on me, I snagged a copy of Fantastic Man and after reading almost the entire issue, I recommend it. If you’ve never heard of the magazine you’re not alone. This was my first time seeing it too. But based on my calculations (10th issue, ships two times a year) the magazine is five years old. Where’ve I been? I recommend the magazine because it contains quality photography and writing. And in this issue there’s even a multi-page spread dedicated to the dashing man known as Hamish Bowles. You can check out more information and buy me a subscription of the magazine here.
