I haven’t fallen off the radar, but I do admit—I’m behind. I’m going through a transition at work that’s taking all of my time. That hasn’t stopped me from finding neat stuff, though. Today I found the Pendleton vest above and if you haven’t gotten yourself at least one piece of black watch for the winter, now’s your chance.

Here’s a present for you. I found this at the thrift store today, and if I didn’t already have a black watch plaid version at the tailor, I’d keep it. I’m planning to bust out the black watch at my company’s holiday party and if you don’t already have a straight pimp blazer for yours—I suggest you snag this Pendleton one. It’s currently five bones and a trip to the tailor for a trim will likely set you back two Jacksons and maybe some new buttons for fifteen and you’re set.

A Beater Option - The Timex T2M564

(The Timex T2M564 is the third one from the left.)

If you were to ask me, I’d tell you to spend as much dough as you can on a nice watch. I’m also all about spending as little as possible on beater watches. You may have seen my last beater, but it’s time is up.

I’m not gonna lie, I’m a party animal. Take a look at the image above and tell me that watch didn’t take a beating. I have a signature bboy move that I pull out on the dance floor and the RAM just couldn’t take it. I’ve moved on though and I’ve found a new beauty to beat (I know, that just sounds wrong.). If you read GQ, you may already be familiar with the Timex T2M564. It graced the pages of the April 2010 issue and shows up under the section titled Golden Opportunities on page 127. It also popped up in the 2010 GQ Style Manual.

In all of the GQ shots, the watch has a gold band. I haven’t been able to find this version, so if you know where to find it, let me know. I purchased the version that contains the leather band and it arrived today. It’s definitely not a bad looking watch for under $45. Mine came fitted with a 22mm brown leather band that I plan to swap out soon with a regimental striped one. It has a unidirectional brass bezel and a small date calendar at 3 o’clock. I don’t plan on taking this watch diving, but I might take it snorkeling.

After ruining one too many watches with my shaky ass hands, I’m getting rid of my watch tools. Now, maybe I won’t have the temptation to bust open any watch cases. Man, I really don’t have much self control. Anyway, my lack of horological experience is your win. I’m starting by getting rid of some great screwdrivers. You can find ‘em on the bay.

Brooklyn Industries Ellis Pea Coat

This weekend while walking around 23rd Ave., I stumbled upon a black watch pea coat that I think you might like. The mannequin wearing the pea coat was signaling me over through the windows of Brooklyn Industries, so I had to step in and try it on. I tried not to judge too hard, but as I got closer, I noticed that the mannequin was wearing white sneakers. Wuh? White sneakers and a black watch pea coat? Some mannequins just don’t get it. Don’t worry, I let him know what’s up. I walked over and politely said, “It’s not summer anymore—lose the white sneakers and get some boots.” He started giving me lip, so I snatched his(size small) coat, and he shut his fiberglass trap. To my surprise, it fit like a glove.

For the small guys, Brooklyn Industries has you covered. This coat comes in XS and fits trim. Like I mentioned earlier, I tried on a small and it fit me (6”0 and 175lb) great. The coat has more wool (70%) than the poly (5%) and viscose (25%), too. It’s lined with cotton (100%) and currently selling for one-hundred and twenty eight dollars including the limited time only, fifty dollars off.

I’m In L.A.

I hate I’ve lost contact with you dick-riding fools, but last week was a busy one. I had to give my j.o.b 1000% of my energy in order to take a few days off. I’m down in L.A until Tuesday for a wedding and I’m having a great time.

Today I stumbled upon the Steven Alan/Dockers event that was happening at Steven Alan. It was a good thing, too because I got the opportunity to talk to one of the dudes that owns this blog shit. He’s the godfather, actually. Michael is a great guy and he even gave me his card. I’m selling his cell number, so send the bids. HAHA, just kidding. What should I do, where should I eat, and where should I go in L.A?

How To Get Everyone’s Attention With A GTH Kit

Sometimes you want to stick out like a sore thumb, right? You want everyone to know that today is your day. If you’re still reading then you’re definitely a man who needs a GTH (Go To Hell) kit. Warning: I’m not promising that the options I’m about to offer you are not going to get you beat down.

GTH pieces can be found at a lot of places, but finding GTH worthy pieces that fit right is a necessity of a modern man’s GTH kit. Don’t get stuck having killer GTH status and have it fit wrong—like Sir Tommy here. It’s hard enough to hold your head up while you’re walking around in your kit—you don’t need your pants falling down. Most likely you’re going to end up at the tailor, but there are a couple of brands that are cutting GTH options trimmer these days.

We’ll start with ties. Vineyard Vines has been servin’ GTH ties since ‘98. These are preppy, but when paired with a full GTH kit, preppy can’t touch ‘em. They make ‘em wide and skinny now so there’s most likely a width you can get down to. There’s also a good amount of GTH ties over at David Hart & Co. so check those out too. I personally like the Hermes options, myself. I like the 7cm ones and when I’m rollin’ GTH, I put on a floral one. I don’t know what it is about floral patterns, but they say GTH in a millisecond.

Finding the right pants for a the GTH kit is a must and Bonobos, Lilly Pulitzer, Etro, Brooks Brothers, L.L. Bean and J. Crew all have options for you. So there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to find at least one pair. I’m a big fan of the floral pants from Bonobos. If those aren’t stocked, head over to Lilly Pulitzer for similar patterns. Bonobos pants are cut slim, but the Pulitzers are probably going to need to be tapered and trimmed. Etro is a pricier option, but they have some seriously trim options for you. A common leg opening width on Etro pants is 7 1/4” (14 1/2”) which is spot on in my book. If you’re loaded, but don’t want to spend all of your dough on GTH pants because you wanna put that dough in your shoes, I get you. Check out these Brooks Brother’s options. I’m talking madras, or anything with embroidery. Are you listening? Here’s a pair with ducks embroidered on them. Ducks quack GTH all day. BTW: These are for your Fall GTH kit.

You’re lucky because most of the brands that carry GTH pants also carry GTH shirts, socks, and belts. So I’ll let you explore those for yourself. Just remember, the bigger, bolder and flashier the pattern, the better off you’re gonna be. And animal prints always make a serious GTH statement. GTH jackets are bit harder to find, so you’re gonna have to keep your eyes peeled. So you can see what I’m talking about, check out the nice jacket option below from Gucci.

I’m not gonna lie to yah. When it comes to shoes, the more you can spend the better off you’re gonna be. If you’re not rollin’ in dough though, don’t get your hopes up. You can find all kinds of GTH shoes on ebay. I just saw some all blue Duckie Brown Florsheims go for $99. Whoever bought those just upped their GTH game. Some of my favorites are from Barker Black, Stubbs & Wootton and Gucci. To get you off on the right foot, HAR HAR HAR, I’ve added some examples below.

Dunderdon Fall 2010 Jackets

The latest jackets from Dunderdon have dropped and I’m excited. One of my favorite jackets is from Dunderdon and their latest has a couple pretty awesome pieces.

The brand is Swedish and it was started by a carpenter named Per-Ivan Hagberg. The company has been around since 1997 and they started by making clothing for craftsmen. That’s the company in a nutshell, but you can read the in depth story on their site.

Sadly, I can’t say that I like any of the jackets in the new lineup as much as I like my current jacket. Some of my favorites in the new lineup include the petrol colored j39 bomber jacket and the j38 grey wool plaid jacket. I’m thinking the j39 is Dunderdon’s interpretation of the classic Harrington jacket. Button flapped pockets and made with a tough cotton/twill combo. It kind of looks like this Dickies jacket, but I’m sure the fits are way different. Dickies has a tendency to make their cuts for the big working man, and the Dunderdon jackets usually have a more trim fit. What I really like about the wool check jacket is the pattern and the tortoise shell buttons. The grey check combo and brown buttons just rawk.

Update: Nicole from Dunderdon gave me some more information about the items that I mentioned above. The J38 has a removable lining and hood and the canvas version is completely water resistant. As for the J39, she mentioned that the style has been around for a few seasons now and that it really holds true to what Dunderdon stands for- superior durability, with a timeless style. The jacket is lighter-weight and is meant for the cooler fall days, the canvas is also water resistant.

My favorite Dunderdon jacket lives below.

Thumbs Up To: Lino Ieluzzi

I don’t even know the man, but Lino Ieluzzi’s kindness radiates from his face in all of the photos that I’ve seen of him. He’s killing me, he just looks too nice. I had to get to the bottom of what this guy’s deal is. Apparently, I’m not the only one that’s been captivated by his smiles, the Japanese love him and he’s also grabbed the attention of Sart Schuman.

Lino’s style consists of double-breasted jackets, double monks, spread collars, fat knots, a smile, often a thumbs up, and dramatic color somewhere—not too much, though. (via Men’s Flair) I’m not sure if he was the first to walk around with one buckle undone on his dubs, but he pulls it off like he was. If he told me he was, I’d probably believe him. He’s been in the industry running his store Al Bazar for 36 years and so there’s no doubt the man knows a thing or two about sprezzatura.

I’m adding Lino to my style icon list. Who’s in your list? In every shot I’ve seen Lino’s been spot on, in his own way. Well quaffed flowing hair, dubs, and that killer smile. When you head off to Milano, just remember to stop by Al Bazar and give Lino a thumbs up for being a cool dude.
