Just the usual headbanging that goes on after a couple of delicious bagels from Kettleman’s.

Basic tie bars
I’m in the market for a shorter tie bar for my not skinny but medium width ties. And I ran across quite a few good looking ones on Amazon that I thought I’d share. None are really short like I was looking for but I think I might get one. I’m not sure which one yet.
And here’s a couple more from other places.

Tamale party
On Saturday we had planned to watch the Roller Derby competition. As we approached the warehouse that housed the event, we found out that the tickets had sold out on Friday. Damn it! Anyway, we had a backup plan. We had tamales to make! Our friends Ed and Laura had been prepping tamale ingredients so that we could start our wild & crazy Tamale Party! after the derby was over. It’s a...
$3.30 crack
When I can’t stand to stay inside any longer and work, I move the virtual office to Ken’s Bakery. I usually get something sweet when I arrive because by that time I’ve already consumed lunch. The other day I got a macaroon and a coffee. The coffee-flavored macaroon was just damn perfect and I couldn’t believe that this coffee-flavored crack they’re making at...
Go get your sprouts....
I just returned from an office celebration. My employer has now been successfully purchased – the paperwork is finished. Bring on the Jell-O™ shots. No really, that’s what I just finished having at Scooter’s. Creepy black cherry is my flave. I’m eating some brussels sprouts (oiled, salted, peppered and baked) at the moment and simmering down a bit before attending the Islands...
Apple Cider Muffins
I made these muffins for Kate this afternoon (No Homo) and they’re quite possibly the best thing I’ve ever made.
Here’s the recipe:
- makes 1 dozen - Adapted from The Craft of Baking by Karen DeMasco and Mindy Fox.
Ingredients
Unsalted butter, for the muffin tin (optional) 1 cup granulated sugar 1 cup packed dark brown sugar 3/4 cup grapeseed oil 3 large eggs 2 1/4 cups...
Thriftin
Kate and I go to thrift stores quite a bit, especially when it’s rainy outside and we’re bored. There are two really good ones in close vicinity to our apartment. And today I found some cool rags that I thought I’d share.
The first is a preppy Pendleton vest that has navy and green stripes with gold buttons. The buttons have shields and inside the shield is a horse. Cool!...
A Virtual Employee
I don’t think the picture above portrays how I feel about being a virtual employee but more of how I get when I have too many toddies (I was trying to pose with a HARD look). Anyway, I just decided here at a coffee shop that I’m going to start talking about my experiences as a virtual employee. I’ve been so for about 3 or 4 months now and it’s been a great deal different...
My Submission to the Cloud
photo via TechCrunch
I’ve only been subscribed to the LaLa music heavens (or cloud) for about 3 or 4 months. I really like being able to access my music collection via the browser on any machine whenever I choose. Before this service was available I almost chose to backup my music on Amazon’s S3 servers. I’m glad I didn’t.
Anyway, yesterday I received an acceptance...
Cheese Tims
It’s time to invest in a pair of new boots. The weather outside is quickly evolving into a cold wet mess and a pair of boots will make this Portland winter a little more manageable. The first boot in my lineup is a member of Timberland’s Abington collection. I’m not too fond of the red laces but I really like the overall low-cut shape.
Another option is the funky-laced...
